Callaway is a city in Becker County, Minnesota, USA, approximately 11 miles from the county seat, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. The population was 234 at the 2010 census.[1] Callaway is often associated with a nearby town, Richwood, Minnesota.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 200 people, 70 households, and 62 families residing in the city. The population density was 316.9 people per square mile (122.6/km²). There were 77 housing units at an average density of 122.0 per square mile (1.24/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 61% White, 25% Native American, 1% Asian, and 13% of more than one race.

There were 70 households out of which 50.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.3% were married couples living together, 18.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.0% were non-families. 15.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.18.

In the city the population was spread out with 35.0% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 19.0% from 45 to 64, and 12.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 29 years. For every 100 females there were 96.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $33,750, and the median income for a family was $34,821. Males had a median income of $30,208 versus $21,667 for females. The per capita income for the city was $12,151. About 4.9% of families and 9.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.3% of those under the age of eighteen and 33.3% of those sixty five or over.
